As some of you may remember, I recently shared a primer on Design Principles for AI Tools where I discussed best practices for designing features powered by Artificial Intelligence.

Since then, I’ve continued to experiment a variety of different AI-powered products — it seems there’s a new one popping up every day! As it is with many of my fellow designers, I can’t help but think about the new world of AI-powered tools from a designer’s perspective.

Designing high-quality, intuitive User Experiences for Artificial Intelligence is a fascinating puzzle where design professionals have to balance a foundation of enduring design principles with new concepts and novel workflows. Translating cutting-edge technology into usable products and services for customers is an exciting challenge for design. And as we all know, great design is critical for driving user adoption, retention, and ultimately business success — life or death for many of these brand-new enterprises.
